A Proper Electronic Scoreboard. Built for the Club. Built to Last.
The Southern Cross SCAFL-380-GBT is an AFL electronic scoreboard built for grassroots and community clubs that are ready to do away with the whiteboard and manual flip numbers for good. Goals, behinds, totals, quarter, game clock, and electronic team names β all visible from up to 190 metres, all updated instantly from a wireless remote. It's the full scoreboard your club deserves, manufactured in Australia by Southern Cross Scoreboards who have been building club scoreboards since the 1980s.
The 380 in the model name refers to the LED character height β 380mm. At 4,800mm wide and 2,000mm tall with a maximum viewing distance of 190 metres, this is a scoreboard that reads clearly from the far end of any community oval. And because it can be programmed for AFL, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rugby union, rugby league, and volleyball, it works for every sport your club or ground hosts β not just one.
π¦ Standard inclusions β SCAFL-380-GBT

Optional extras available β see Specifications accordion below.
AFL Clubs Ready to UpgradeClubs still running a whiteboard, manual flip scoreboard, or an ageing LED unit that's hard to read and harder to maintain. The SCAFL-380-GBT is a permanent upgrade β electronic team names mean no more running in at quarter time to change a sign, the wireless remote means the scorer stays seated, and the 190-metre viewing distance means every person on the ground can read it clearly.
Multi-Sport Grounds and FacilitiesGrounds that host more than one sport β AFL and cricket in summer, AFL and netball on the same day, hockey on the same oval. The SCAFL-380-GBT can be reprogrammed across eight sports without additional hardware. One scoreboard serves the whole facility, which is a strong argument when presenting the purchase to a council, committee, or grant panel.
Clubs Planning a Facility UpgradeClubs that are upgrading their oval, grandstand, or clubroom facilities and want the scoreboard to match. A Southern Cross electronic scoreboard is the kind of visible, permanent infrastructure that anchors a facility upgrade grant application β it's tangible, community-facing, and used every single match day.
Electronic Team Names β No More Running Between QuartersTeam names are stored in the scoreboard's memory and displayed electronically. Every team your ground hosts can be saved and recalled. No vinyl overlays to swap, no one sprinting across the oval between quarters to change a sign. The scorer updates everything from the remote.
190-Metre Viewing DistanceAt 380mm LED character height, the SCAFL-380-GBT reads clearly from 190 metres. That covers most community ovals from boundary to boundary. No squinting from the far race, no confusion about the score, no disputes about whether that was a goal or a behind.
Programmed for Eight SportsAFL, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rugby union, rugby league, and volleyball. Reprogram between sports as needed β no new hardware required. For a multi-sport facility this is a significant cost saving and a strong argument in a grant application.
Built to Handle Australian ConditionsWeatherproof powder-coated aluminium enclosure with a vandal-resistant polycarbonate front window. This is a scoreboard designed to live outdoors on a community sports ground year-round β not one that needs to be nursed through a wet winter or a scorching summer.
Customisable for Your ClubAdd your club logo or a sponsor logo in vinyl. Customise the layout and orientation. Add a scrolling LED message area for sponsor messages, game day announcements, or club news. Options are available at the time of order β contact us to discuss.
Australian Manufacturer β Long-Term SupportSouthern Cross Scoreboards design and manufacture in Australia. That means parts are available, support is local, and if anything needs attention in five or ten years, you're dealing with the people who built it β not trying to source components from overseas.
Grant Funding β We Handle It End to End
An electronic scoreboard is one of the most fundable pieces of club infrastructure there is. It's visible, permanent, community-facing, and used every single match day by players, volunteers, and spectators. State sporting infrastructure grants, local council community facility programs, and national grassroots sport funding schemes regularly fund scoreboard upgrades at community clubs β and the multi-sport capability of the SCAFL-380-GBT strengthens any application by demonstrating broad community benefit beyond a single sport.
Club Captain helps clubs find, write, and submit grant applications end to end. If your club is considering a scoreboard upgrade, check what grants are open in your state before reaching into the club account β this is exactly the kind of purchase that gets funded.

Need a different size? Call us on 1300 715 818 and we can discuss the full range.
Does the scoreboard need to be permanently mounted?
No β a trolley-mounted option is available. This lets the scoreboard be moved and stored when not in use, which suits clubs that share a ground or don't have a permanent mounting position. Contact us to discuss the trolley option when ordering.
Can it run on battery power?
Yes β battery power is an available option at time of order. This is useful for grounds where running mains power to the scoreboard is difficult or costly. Contact us when ordering to discuss the battery option for your installation.
How does the wireless remote work?
The scorer operates the scoreboard from a handheld wireless remote. Goals, behinds, quarter changes, clock starts and stops β all controlled without leaving the scorer's position. Team names are pre-programmed into the scoreboard's memory, so switching between teams is a quick remote operation.
How many team names can be stored?
The scoreboard stores multiple team names in its memory β enough to cover all the teams that regularly use your ground. Contact Southern Cross directly via Club Captain for specifics on memory capacity for your ground's needs.
Is this scoreboard suitable for a ground that hosts multiple sports?
Yes β this is one of the SCAFL-380-GBT's strongest features. It can be reprogrammed for AFL, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rugby union, rugby league, and volleyball without any new hardware. One investment covers every sport your ground hosts.
Can we add a club or sponsor logo?
Yes β vinyl club logos and sponsor logos can be added to the scoreboard at time of order. This is a good option for clubs looking to generate sponsorship revenue to offset the purchase cost, or to make the scoreboard a more prominent feature of the facility.
Do you arrange installation?
Installation is not included in the standard supply price. Call us on 1300 715 818 and we can discuss installation options and connect you with the right people for your location.
Once your order is confirmed we get in touch to finalise the details β options selected, team names to be programmed, any customisation to the layout or vinyl. Southern Cross build scoreboards to order so lead times vary depending on current production schedule. We'll confirm your expected delivery window as soon as the order is placed.
If you need to sort installation before delivery, call us on 1300 715 818 and we'll help coordinate so everything is ready to go when the scoreboard arrives.
The SCAFL-380-GBT is a large freight item at 220kg β shipping costs are calculated based on your location and will be confirmed at order. Contact us before ordering for a full delivered price to your ground. We deliver to metro, regional, and rural locations across Australia.
Also in the Southern Cross Range
If your ground hosts football, netball, or rugby alongside AFL, the SCSO-A is worth considering β a simpler scoreboard covering home and visitor scores with a game clock, suited to grounds that need basic scoring without the full AFL goals and behinds breakdown.
