The Line Marking Paint That Grips the Grass and Holds Its Lines.

Truline Grass Gripper is a professional-grade line marking paint formulated specifically for grass and dirt surfaces β€” the paint used by groundskeepers, club volunteers, and school facilities teams across Australia who need bright, long-lasting lines that don't wash out after one game or fade before the next session. Unlike standard white paint, Grass Gripper's unique formula penetrates into each blade of grass and adheres at the root level, producing crisp lines that stay visible through rain, heavy play, and the Australian summer.

Each 4 litre tin dilutes with water to make up to 25 litres of ready-to-use paint β€” enough to mark a full soccer field or football oval from a single tin. Available in white, yellow, and black, and in sizes from a single 4 litre tin through to a 200 litre drum for facilities and councils managing multiple fields. Compatible with all wet-type line marking machines including all Graco and Truline models.

Sports Clubs Marking Their Own Fields Soccer clubs, AFL clubs, rugby clubs, and cricket clubs that mark their own ovals and pitches each week. Grass Gripper delivers professional-standard lines that last through a full week of training and match play β€” no re-marking mid-week, no faded lines on game day. One 4L tin covers a full field.
Schools with Ovals and Sports Fields PE teachers and groundskeeping staff who need to mark ovals, grids, and activity areas consistently throughout the school year. The dilution ratio makes Grass Gripper economical for school budgets, and the bright coverage means lines stay visible across a term without constant reapplication.
Councils and Recreation Facilities Managing Multiple Fields Councils, recreation centres, and multi-field facilities that need bulk supply at a consistent quality. The 20 litre and 200 litre drum options are designed for exactly this β€” high-volume use across multiple surfaces without ordering constantly.
Anyone Using a Graco or Truline Field Marker Grass Gripper is the recommended paint for all Graco FieldLazer models (ES100 and S100) and all Truline wet-type machines. The viscosity is matched to airless field marker systems β€” it runs cleanly through the machine, doesn't clog tips, and produces a consistent line width from first pass to last.
Penetrates into the grass β€” doesn't just sit on top Standard white paint coats the surface of the grass and washes or wears off quickly. Grass Gripper's unique formula adheres to each blade at the base, which means lines stay crisp and visible for longer β€” through rain, dew, and heavy foot traffic β€” without needing to be touched up before every game.
Economical β€” one 4L tin makes up to 25 litres Grass Gripper is a concentrate that dilutes with water before use. Each 4 litre tin produces up to 25 litres of ready-to-use paint β€” enough to mark a complete soccer field or football oval per tin. The dilution ratio makes it one of the most cost-effective professional line marking paints available.
Works on grass and dirt surfaces Suitable for natural grass, kikuyu, couch, buffalo, and dirt or compacted surfaces. The formula performs across the range of surface conditions found on Australian sports fields β€” wet or dry, thick or thin grass, sandy or loam-based grounds.
Compatible with all wet-type line marking machines Grass Gripper works with all Graco FieldLazer models (ES100 and S100) and all Truline wet-type machines. It's also suitable for manual wheel-type markers. The correct viscosity at dilution means clean application, no tip blockages, and consistent line width across the full tank.
Available in bulk β€” right up to a 200 litre drum From a single 4 litre tin to an 80-pack or a 200 litre drum β€” the range scales to your volume. Clubs marking one field weekly, schools managing multiple ovals, and councils maintaining a full facility can all order the right quantity without paying for more than they need or running out mid-season.
Made by Truline β€” Australian line marking specialists Truline has been manufacturing line marking equipment and paint in Australia for decades. Grass Gripper is their flagship grass paint β€” formulated for Australian grass species, Australian conditions, and the machines used by Australian clubs and groundskeepers.

Grass Gripper is a concentrate β€” it must be diluted with water before use. Each 4 litre tin makes up to 25 litres of ready-to-use paint. The standard dilution is approximately 1 part Grass Gripper to 5 parts water, though this can be adjusted depending on grass density, surface condition, and the line width and opacity required.

Mix thoroughly before loading into your machine. Apply using any wet-type line marking machine β€” all Graco FieldLazer and Truline models are compatible. One 4 litre tin (diluted to 25 litres) is sufficient to mark a standard soccer field or AFL oval depending on line thickness.

Grass Gripper can be left in a sealed Truline machine tank for up to two weeks without clogging β€” useful for clubs marking weekly without fully emptying the tank between sessions. If using a Graco FieldLazer, flush with clean water after each use as per the machine's maintenance instructions.

Grant Funding β€” Could This Be Covered?

Line marking paint is regularly included in facility maintenance and equipment grants available to Australian sports clubs, schools, and councils β€” particularly when purchased alongside a line marking machine as part of a broader facility upgrade application. At Club Captain we help clubs find the right grant, scope the project, and submit a strong application.

Does it need to be diluted before use?

Yes β€” Grass Gripper is a concentrate and must be mixed with water before loading into your machine or applying. Each 4 litre tin makes up to 25 litres of ready-to-use paint. Do not apply undiluted.

How long do the lines last?

Under normal conditions β€” moderate rainfall, regular play β€” Grass Gripper lines remain visible for a full week between markings. The adhesion formula grips the grass blade rather than sitting on top, so lines withstand rain and foot traffic better than standard paint. In hot, dry conditions lines can last longer; in heavy rain or on heavily trafficked fields, a top-up may be needed mid-week.

Is it safe for grass β€” will it damage the turf?

Yes β€” Grass Gripper is formulated to be safe for all grass types used on Australian sports fields including kikuyu, couch, and buffalo. It does not harm or burn turf when used at the correct dilution ratio.

What machine does it work with?

Grass Gripper is compatible with all wet-type line marking machines β€” Graco FieldLazer ES100, Graco FieldLazer S100, and all Truline wet-type models. It is also suitable for manual wheel-type paint markers. Do not use in airless hard surface stripers (such as the Graco LineLazer ES 500) β€” those machines use traffic paint, not Grass Gripper.

Can I leave it in the machine between uses?

If using a Truline machine with a fully sealed tank β€” yes, diluted Grass Gripper can be left for up to two weeks without clogging. If using a Graco FieldLazer, flush with clean water after each use as per the machine's maintenance guide to protect the pump and seals.

How much do I need for a full season?

A club marking one field weekly through a 20-week season typically uses 20–25 tins (4 litre) per season depending on line width and field size. An 8-pack covers roughly 10 markings of a full field. Call us on 1300 715 818 and we'll help you calculate the right quantity for your specific field and schedule.

Can I get a quote for bulk supply?

Yes β€” for councils, large facilities, and clubs buying in bulk we provide itemised quotes formatted for committee approval, school purchase orders, and grant applications. Request a Quote β†’

Need a Line Marking Machine to Go With It?

Grass Gripper is matched to the Graco FieldLazer range β€” the battery-powered and petrol field markers used by clubs and schools across Australia. If you're marking your field manually or looking to upgrade to a proper airless field marker, the Graco ES100 (battery) and S100 (petrol) are the right machines to pair with Grass Gripper.
